On September 18, 2024 I met Ken in his home. He was a bit reluctant at first. Ken and I used to run a bit at the group runs back in the day. I am so glad he said yes, because his was one of those interviews that really helped move the story.
He is so genuine and it is clear how much Seth means to him.
The setup in the Youngstead home was a visual dream. The open floorplan and aesthetic decorating were the perfect backdrop for his story. I had plenty of room to properly setup a two camera and two light shot. I think it turned out great.

His story was honest and unique as he admitted to being scared to join the Franklin Road Runners. This has been a common theme that Seth and I had noticed over the past 12 years. The group currently has 3,200 members, but only a small percentage of that number show up to the group runs. One of my goals of this documentary was to encourage people to show up. Ken’s story is so inspiring because he has run several marathons and he equates that success to the run group and the structure it provides.
Ken is the “every man” in the group. I challenge anyone who is sitting on the wings and observing all the events and has reservations to show up for that first group run, just do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Health, friendship and community await.
