On November 7, 2024 I got to meet Shara Carter in her office in Cool Springs. Shara was a late addition, but integral part of the project. She came on as a clinical expert, talking about the health benefits of running in community.
Not only was she an expert, she also has been running wtih Seth and the Franklin Road Runners for the past few years. She originally said yes to a generic post I made for a “last call” on the documentary. When I revealed to her the true nature of the doc, she was even more on board with it.
Her perspective as an expert was the perfect glue to the story to show the real impact having a loving, supportive community is. This was the subtheme of the documentary. Yes, it was about Seth, but it is so much more than just one person. There are thousands of different stories in this group that could merit their own feature film. Seth is the leader, but the community is what makes the group what it is.
Shara has an amazing heart, positive energy and a love for people. She wants everyone to live their best life. One of the things she said in the interview was that she wanted to encourage people who are living in isolation or have the feeling of isolation, to just take that first step and join a group run/walk. Like so many of our other stars of the movie did, you will find a friend.
